Model of Management
The Model of Management sees teachers and students working closely together to determine appropriate and acceptable behaviour. It works with the notion that student’s respond appropriately when given firm guidance and leadership, in addition to being included in large decision making. An issue with this model is it still depends on students having some responsibility over their own behaviour. It also requires teachers to have a large amount of “good-will” with their students, in order for their students to respect them and feel as though their guidance is to do with their best interests. If teachers to do not have “good-will” amongst their students then it is likely that the students are not going to accept their guidance and their behaviour will not change. (Lewis, 1991)
In relation to my principles, this model influenced the developed of Principle 2 and Principle 5. This is because these principles required students and teachers to work closely together in order to form respectable relationships to create a more positive learning environment. If students and teachers are not able to work together I believe these principles would not be effective, nor would they be able to be implemented into a classroom to create a positive learning environment. This is because there would be no interaction between students and teachers, and it would simply be the teacher telling the students how they are to act and what consequences will evolve if they do not act in that certain way. This would be ineffective in creating a positive learning environment, as most students do not respond well to this type of teaching (Lewis, 1991).

Model of Influence
The Model of Influence is a model that works on the premise that students are capable of working out what whether their behaviour is causing a problem and how to fix it (Lewis, 1991). An issue with this model is that it places a lot of responsibility on students, that may not yet be able to recognise if their behaviour is causing problems or not. It also depends on the working relationships between students and teachers in order to reach an acceptable solution for particular misbehaviour. Another critique of this model is that some students may not want to take responsibility for their actions. This also results in an unacceptable solution to a problem.
With regards to my principles developed, the model of influence would be an appropriate model to use with Principle 1 and Principle 3 however, it does depend on the students being accountable for their behaviour. If students were not able to be accountable or resolutions regarding student behaviour could not be made, there would need to be changes to these principles and a different model would have to guide the development of them.

Model of Control
The Model of Control is based around the idea that teacher knows what is in the best interest of the student as they are better informed and can call upon long-term life views. They believe that if it is in the best interests of their students, they are responsible for modifying the students’ problem behaviour. As issue with this model is that it is based around what the teacher thinks is the best for the student, and doesn’t take into account what the students views are. They also take an assertive approach to discipline and do not involve children in developing consequences. (Lewis, 1991)
For the development of my principles, I used this model to assist me when I developed Principle 4. This was because this principle is based around telling students what they should bring to class and what attitudes they should convey when in the classroom. This model worked well with this principle as the principle was based around telling the students what is required of them in class, rather than letting them decide. This model was thoughtfully used in conjunction with developing this principle as I felt I had the appropriate knowledge of what can happen to a classroom setting if students aren’t prepared or willing to learn.
